Black Voices Reading Challenge
School‑Wide Event!
Throughout February, our K–8 students will be taking part in our Black Voices Reading Challenge in celebration of Black History Month. Each class will choose to read 2 of the 8 featured books—or all eight if they wish!—highlighting Black history, culture, creativity, and everyday joy
After reading, classes will complete a 10‑star rating sheet for each book, reflecting on understanding, representation, engagement, and connections to their own lives.
At the end of the month, we will tally the scores from every class to discover which book earns the title of our “School Favourite Black Voices Book”!
We look forward to celebrating the amazing stories students experience and the rich conversations these books inspire.
