School Councils are important partners in education. School Councils provide a forum through which parents and other members of school communities can contribute to improving student achievement and well-being and enhance the accountability of the education system.
Our School Council focuses on information sharing and discussion, and sometimes, how to improve student opportunities through fundraising. At each meeting, school administration provides an update on school- related activities and council members may identify topics of interest for presentation/discussion at future meetings or extra special interest sessions.

Annual Report for the 2025–2026 School Year
Dear Parents and School Community:
The Perth Road Public School Council had a successful and rewarding 2025–2026 school year. The School Council held six meetings during the school year on September 15, 2025; October 15, 2025; November 10, 2025; January 13, 2026 (virtual); March 23, 2026; and May 12, 2026. Throughout the year, Council worked on a variety of initiatives, including fundraising, parent engagement activities, student supports, and strengthening the school community. These meetings were open to all parents and members of the school community to encourage participation, collaboration, and input into school initiatives.
The purpose of the School Council is to help improve student achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents. School councils are advisory organizations whose primary role is to make recommendations to the principal and the school board. The principal and the Limestone District School Board are responsible for considering recommendations made by the School Council and advising the Council of actions taken in response.
Accordingly, included with this report is a summary of the advice provided by the School Council during the 2025–2026 school year, along with responses outlining how this advice was considered in decision-making.
Additional achievements of the School Council during the 2025–2026 school year included:
- Organizing a successful poinsettia fundraiser, with proceeds supporting initiatives that benefit our students and school community.
- Coordinating the hot lunch program throughout the school year. Funds raised through this program helped ensure that students experiencing financial barriers were still able to participate.
- Organizing a Family Skate Day through Parent Engagement funding, providing an opportunity for students and families to connect and enjoy time together as a school community.
- Collecting donations during the Holiday Concert to support Perth Road Public School families in need over the holiday season.
- Providing financial support for outdoor sports equipment, enhancements to the school yard, and resources to meet student and classroom needs.
- Continuing to support initiatives that strengthen school spirit, encourage parent involvement, and enhance the educational experience for all students.
Fundraising activities were conducted throughout the year, with proceeds used to support projects in accordance with Limestone District School Board policies. These fundraising activities are identified in the attached financial summary entitled "Sources and Uses of Project Funds." A separate financial summary related to the School Council's operating activities, entitled "Sources and Uses of Operating Funds," is also attached. Minutes of meetings and financial records are available for public inspection at the school office.
We wish to acknowledge the dedication, generosity, and countless volunteer hours contributed by our School Council members, parent volunteers, school staff, and community partners. Their commitment has helped create meaningful opportunities and enhanced learning experiences for students throughout the school year.
