Dear PRPS families,
We are excited to announce that our Students' Council bake sale is coming up on Thursday, October 30th! This event has been loved by students and staff, and is one of the highlight of our year!
This year, half of the money Students' Council raises at the bake sale will go to the Make A Wish Foundation in honour of Leah Buckler's Birthday Month. The other funds raised will go towards student activities put on by Students Council throughout the school year.
As Students' Council, we kindly ask our PRPS families to contribute homemade or store-bought treats/baked goods (peanut free), to make this bake sale a success.
Those wishing to contribute baked goods, we ask if you may put a price between 1-5 dollars on your treats you decided to bring, and you may drop them off at the main office any time before 10:30AM or send them to school with children. Students are invited to bring small change on Thursday if they would like to purchase a treat!
Thank you in advance for help us make our bake sale extra special!
Your PRPS Students' Council
Congratulations to our cross-country team who competed at the regional race on Tuesday, October 14th. We got lucky and it was a beautiful day for racing. We had 35 racers compete and 11 of those moved on to our district meet where the top 30 racers from the regional races raced off. We are proud of ALL our members, but a special shout out was earned by those who moved on after the following results: Atom Girls: Rosie B came 5th, Jadelyn C was 26th, Atom Boys: Ozzy B was 8th, Michael G was 10th, Bantam Boys: George R was 24th, Sawyer M was 26th, Senior Girls: Paisleigh C was 21st, Senior Boys: Carter C was 12th, Liam K was 23rd, Leo R was 28th and Bantam Girls: Emma M, after an incredible race, came 1st!
Last Wednesday at the district meet, after racing in less than favourable conditions, here are the results from our team in their respective age groups who were racing the best of the best: Rosie was 9th, Jadelyn was 34th, Ozzie was 16th, Michael was 25th, Emma was 7th, George was 32nd, Sawyer was 69th, Paisleigh was 51st, Carter was 20th, Liam was 48th and Leo was 66th.
Well done team! Rest up in the Winter and we look forward to seeing you back for running in the Spring!

Students' Council has decided to create a Mental Health Bulletin Board with rotating information for students about Mental Health. On November 5th, Peter Bearse from KFL&A Public Health will be meeting with student members of the mental health committee to help them plan their bulletin board.
Nurse Bearse will lead them through a discussion of the different ways that people can support their mental health using our “Fuel, Chill, Chat, Play” model.
- fuel: ideas and resources for healthy eating
- chill: importance of relaxation/ activities to de-stress and sleep
- chat: connecting with friends and family, talking about how we are feeling.
- Play: importance of physical activity
He will also lead a discussion about the circle of supports for students in the school: who they can connect with if they need to talk about anything, as well as mental health supports offered through resources like Kids help phone, One Stop Talk and Maltby.
We are looking forward to this presentation and the upcoming bulletin board create by our Students' Council!
